I do not pay much attention to economics even though I have taken several classes on it, but this shocked me probably more than it should have. How is Americans perception of reality so skewed and how is the distribution of wealth so incredibly skewed? It really made me think about the distribution of power. If 1% of the population controls 50% of the stocks and has such a high percentage of the nation’s wealth how much power do they have? It seems like they could change things pretty quickly without spending money at all.I thought the video was informative, but part of the problem I had with it was that it seemed so factual, but they would slip in judgments that were kind of difficult to pick up on. The way they said it was calculated and almost too reasonable because they weren’t even taking that radical of a stance. In the end, it really only complicated my views on wealth inequality which I guess is good. It definitely made me think about it more.
So now that I have the information, what do I do with it?
